Vanya Marinkovic – WOW’s Jacklyn Hyde

WW: To begin with, I’d like you to tell us something about you. Write anything you want here and make it as long as you see fit.

A: I make my art because I enjoy both entertaining and teaching. My art has evolved in many ways over the years. As a child I’d begun by writing my stories/scripts and gathering voice over artists to record on audiocassette. By the time I was thirteen I’d produced at least a dozen “radio tapes”. 

Shortly after graduation from high school I relocated to Los Angeles and for several years worked both in front and behind the camera. I went on to write and produce over forty shows and air the work throughout Los Angeles for several years. During other shows I invited local politicians and/or musical groups and performers to appear.

I have studied many great historical works including the great classic writers, general history, world religions, the bible, and Greek mythology. And I love science fiction. Through my diversified education and background I have developed a very unusual writing and filming style. I consider myself a satirist well versed in the traditional Greek tragedy/comedy background.

Satirists for hundreds of years have represented taboo or difficult topics and showcased the material in such a way that people can enjoy and learn. My optimum goal is to reach/educate as many people as possible; children, teens, adults and people of all socio-economic and educational levels. I would like to use comedy in its many forms to make an impact into the human psyche. It is a known fact that our attention spans are getting worse and worse. This is largely due to our extremely fast paced society and the components within; poor nutrition, high sugared diets and the ingestion of our frantic media and often-insane television programming: reality shows, vulgar sexuality, violence, video games and the internet.

I have been working on a psychological science fiction project, writing both the screenplay and novel simultaneously. The story is Secret World(s): Crude Space. It is what some would call experimental. My brand of storytelling attempts to keep pace with the speed of thought.
