Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling

GLOW was the first all-female fed for many of today’s ladies’ wrestling fans. In hindsight, the wrestling wasn’t that great and the gimmicks were extremely goofy but back then, it was like a women’s wrestling fan’s dream come true. The outfits rocked (lots of shiny lycra) and some of the ladies did indeed have potential. The show was the embodiment of David McLane’s vision of hot women wrestling mixed with moments of kiddie-show antics. Despite the questionable quality of the setup, GLOW proved to be a huge success and it quickly became a classic.

Some of the ladies who wrestled for Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling would go on to build a career wrestling in other feds after the demise of the series.
Tina Ferrari was one of these women. The show featured talent like Lighting (Cheryl Rusa) Salt and Pepper (Charli Haynes and Princess Victoria) and Hollywood (Jean Basone). Fan favorites who pretty much disappeared from the wrestling ring after GLOW were Spanish Red, Ashley Cartier, Dallas, Colonel Ninotchka, and scores of others. Jackie Stallone, Sylvester Stallone’s mother played a lead role in the series as promoter.

GLOW lasted for approximately 4 seasons from 1986 to 1990. The shows were hosted by the Riviera Hotel, and they have pretty much become a trademark of the place.
