WOW  - Women of Wrestling, founded in 2000 by promoter David McLane, a veteran of several other attempts at women-only wrestling promotions, WOW was relatively successful in its first season but a less than stellar PPV sent it down to he road to non existence. Although its gimmicks were over the top and it featured characters like Tanja the Warrior Woman (probably a spin off Xena), Slam Dunk, Poison, Ice Cold and Boom Boom the Volcano, the wrestling action was much better than in many of McLane’s previous leagues. Our favorites are The Beach Patrol (with Summer and Sandy – who always wrestled in classic boots-hose-leotard attires) and Boom Boom, as well as Jungle Girl and Lana Star, but we will not forget about those who might have other preferences.
