World Wrestling Entertainment is one of the oldest professional wrestling promotions. Previously known as Capitol Wrestling Corporation and then as World Wrestling Federation (WWF), the company’s history reaches back all the way to the 1930s. Like TNA, WWE isn’t a women’s only promotion either. As a matter of fact, the ladies division (WWE female wrestlers are known as Divas), is merely a sidetrack for the company, and as such, it is often criticized for the quality of the featured talent.
For quite a while in the 90s and the beginning of the 2000s, the WWE was the only place where one could watch mainstream women’s wrestling. One of the best known female wrestlers of all time, Trish Stratus wrestled for the WWE as well. Despite all the criticism, the quality of the female bouts presented by the WWE has been on a continuous rise for the last few years. The WWE is also known (and often criticized for) the various gimmick matches that it sets up for its female talent. Pillow fights and mud wrestling matches are joined by Baywatch Babe Triple threats watched over by none other than David Hasselhoff.

Female talent promoted by the WWE included names like Jacqueline (Jackie Moore/Miss Texas/Sweet Georgia Brown), Jazz, Mickie James, Lita, Molly Holly. Some of the current WWE divas are: Michelle McCool, Natalia, Maryse, Beth Phoenix, Maria.
Victoria, currently known under the moniker “Tara” in TNA, also wrestled for the WWE.
