Heidi Lee Morgan

heidi lee morgan

Born in 1967, Heidi Lee Morgan is true wrestling royalty, hailing from a professional wrestling family. Her father, Lester Morgan, was the one who first introduced her to the magic of the squared circle. She was only 10 years old when she came to ring-side in Tennessee as her father’s valet. Being that young, she didn’t find wrestling particularly appealing. Later on, she embarked on a career in bodybuilding, but it seemed like it was written for her to become a wrestler. As a bodybuilder, she was part of an exhibition photo-shoot at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, right in the ring, when she was approached by Vince McMahon, who wanted to lure her into the wrestling ring as a wrestler rather than a side-attraction. At first, she still wasn’t interested, but after another similar photo-shoot in Pittsburgh, she eventually caved.

Her professional wrestling training started in Fabulous Moolah’s school in South Carolina. She made her debut in small, local events before joining the National Wrestling Federation, where she got an excellent feud going with none other than the legendary Wendi Richter. In 1987, that feud resulted in the first ever steel cage match between two female wrestlers.
From that point, Heidi Lee Morgan’s wrestling career took off: she got to wrestle the crème de la crème of the women’s wrestling world. She did battle with Lelani Kai, Judy Martin, Bambi, Candy Devine, Madusa and Debbie Combs among others.

Besides the NWF, she wrestled in the WWF, the International World Class Championship Wrestling and last but certainly not least the Ladies Professional Wrestling Association (LPWA) too. In the WWF, she wrestled Madusa quite a few times: the two had several monumental bouts the likes of which are quite unheard of these days. It was during this time that Heidi Lee became known for her flashy and extravagant wrestling outfits and "spray-painted" tights. Although at 125 lbs she was quite diminutive, she was extremely strong and she had no problems lifting and bodyslamming just about any of the ladies who set foot into the ring with her. Her high-flying wrestling style was developed in the family’s own ring where – besides her father – Artie Palmer (Wolfgang Von Heller) trained her too. Johnny Rodz was another trainer who took her under his wings.

In the LPWA, she was an upper card singles wrestler, but her main gig was Team America. Having teamed up with Misty Blue Simms, she became one half of the LPWA tag team champions. After her relationship with Misty Blue turned sour (it happened after the latter submitted to one of the Glamour Girls in a title bout, costing the two their tag team title), she teamed up with Comrade Orga, a move which marked a heel-turn for her.

Her wrestling career took a back seat when she got married and had a daughter, Adrianna. After a while, she returned to the ring, only to have her back broken in a horrific accident by a poorly trained opponent. After she spent 6 months in a body-cast, her wrestling career was over.
Her career – although relatively short – was a stellar one, which saw her wrestle in Japan, Europe and even South America.
